Tomorrow is the big day. I’m travelling to Svalbard together with my fellow “Ambassadors of Change”, 18 young adults from 9 countries. For ten days we are given education, media training and wildlife experiences, all related to the ongoing climate disruption, and documented by a film crew.
When we get home, we are expected to communicate the seriousness of this crisis. We hope that we can offer a new approach to the debate, communicating feelings rather than figures. After all, our generation will have to live in the world we are now creating, and it’s a land of hunger, thirst and conflict.
As I recently realized the magnitude of this issue myself, I know that many people out there can be awoken quickly and mobilized to partake in this global movement. We demand proper conditions for life on this planet! This upcoming disaster is erasing the borders of nations, religions, political ideologies and the like. We are in this together, as world citizens and as inhabitants of the tiny island called Earth, in the enormous, cold, black universe.

I write this sitting in your sister’s room at MHK, since she’s away until Midsommar and I’m hosting a couple of friends for a week at my place at Smålands. Once again Heijbels are helping me out!
I’m very inspired to read what you wrote on the day before your journey begins. I wish you the best of luck in this endeavor! It feels like a big mission, but you’re not alone in this, and we are definitely more than just 18 young people from nine countries, even though they are the newest and much welcome reinforcement of our global youth climate action movement! And you can always rely on my support in your work to communicate the importance of this issue to the policy-makers and the rest of society. I’m looking forward to work with you and the rest of ‘climate advocates’ in ‘Challenge Europe’, when you’re back!
Meanwhile, enjoy yourself and experience everything to its fullest! I’m sure you will pass your inspiration to the rest of the ‘Voyage for the Future’ team and will get some valuable insights from your peers from around the world! You guys are in my daily thoughts, godspeed to your wings!
